I have brought this point up before, that certainly the Greek world to whom Paul was speaking would have been familiar with Platonic philosophy and would have understood that Plato coined the word “dikaiosune” to describe a “perfect moral ideal”, which Plato believed was unattainable because Man was confined to the physical “shadow” world. Such an ideal only existed in the realm of the “Forms”. It would appear that the apostle Paul was using Plato’s own words against him by stating emphatically that indeed, Man CAN be truly righteous as a state of being, and this would have been a truly scandalous statement against the current system of thought at that time!
I know he’s dead, but Sproul remains one of the biggest blasphemers and promoters of worldly filth. And, no, a “fake” light came on to Luther. Luther’s father is a dark dude; there’s no light in the darkness.
