This particular tweet? It feels like a marble in the nasal cavity somehow, and I can’t put my finger on it (the marble). I think JC should tweet less often, think more, and visit PPT to get himself in line. Some ambiguity in the first line of the tweet…on purpose, or obliviousness?

It’s pretty much what I believe. Lots of people going to hell with impressive church resumes. Lots of people getting to Heaven just to watch their straw rewards get burned. Jesus said He would be lifted up as the bronze serpent was lifted up. Just look at it, and the change will begin from the inside out.

If you love me, keep my commandments. A body separated from spirit is a dead body and a faith separated from good deeds is a dead faith. JC tweets proudly the heresy of quietism. Faith alone, Jesus alone, preach the gospel to yourself daily, already; not yet, and a whole host of slogans and sayings from the very pit of hell.

There is a litany of men and women in Scripture who pleased God, were called friends of God and who we will see one day in heaven. James 2 tells us about two of them: Abraham and Rahab. They believed God, they acted upon their belief in with actions/ deeds/ obedience and it was credited to them as righteousness.

Why is this so hard for folks to understand? I think the answer is that faith, repentance, conversion, dying to self, becoming a new creation and then living as a disciple of Jesus Christ in love and obedience takes work, it takes effort, and it isn’t easy. Frankly, dying to self is downright galling and unpalatable.

I think there will be many surprised (and devastated) people come judgment day. Lord, Lord …. they cry.
