Paul's Passing Thoughts

It’s Official: There is Nothing More Mindless Than a Protestant

Posted in Uncategorized by Paul M. Dohse Sr. on September 21, 2014

You can’t make this stuff up. RC Sproul’s Ligonier ministry is sponsoring a Caribbean study cruise and guess what the theme is?

Our theme will be “Christ’s call to endure persecution and suffering faithfully.”

That is, according to emails I have received, before Julie Anne Smith of Spiritual Sounding Board.com and others began mocking Sproul et al on Twitter. The post was then changed to…

Our theme will be “Persevering in the Christian Life,”

Better?

If one signs up for the cruise in which the depths of suffering will be plunged, admission to the 2015 Ligonier National Conference is free and features the usual who’s who of the Neo-Calvinist movement. The theme there is…

We live in a day of darkness, when the gospel and the church are under attack on every front.

I sent my own tweet to one of the speakers in regard to that theme.

And when are these guys ever home pasturing their own churches? Let me get this straight: you can pastor a church, be a conference superstar, and supply the spiritual needs of your own family as well? Wow, I guess that’s why they make the big bucks.

I can only compare the mass mindlessness that we are witnessing today to Germany during the rise of Adolf Hitler. It’s the same kind of mindless following on a mass scale.

Totally agree. And to help it along we have pastors teaching and agreeing in enmasse we must “obey our President”. Are they really Ignorant rubes or do they have an agenda for themselves? I find it hard to believe an educated pastor does not know we are a nation of “obeying laws” ON PURPOSE so we do not “obey a mere man”. They are teaching the total opposite of what our Founders intended because they must force Romans 13 to fit America’s founding?

There is a concentrated focus on hierarchy and twisting concepts such as “persecution” which is only occuring from them in the guise of church discipline, covenants, hierarchy, excommunication, etc.

Agenda? I think so. It is about their own power. If you must obey the President then obviously you obey the other authority in your life: The pastor.

Pearl, Tory as in “Loyal to the Monarchy”. Yes. But not the same as Loyal to King Jesus, ironically. I did remind him that King Henry VIII gave himself the title “Defender of the Faith” which is all we need to know about how corrupt such ideas are if we are aware of the events which precipitated the title. :o)

I am really glad such pastor blogs (and twitter!) exist. How were we to know so quickly how they really think? If just listening from a pew it can take years to discern their real thinking.

The scary part is that it has not put them out of business.

Curious as to why the same men are at conference after conference?

There’s the connection to Michael Horton, Steve Lawson, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey.
