John Calvin was a heretic with a false gospel that leads to hell. His followers, those in your picture on the post, are carrying his torch for him, and their ultimate master, satan.

LOL! Apparently a reader has set this all up for me. I will look into it and see when they would be available.

John 14 is a good place to see what Jesus says he will do and who God will send to those who believe that Jesus is who he says he is.

    GRR,
Authority, authority, authority. Who is ruler over whom is your focus. Goodness gracious. Have your authority eyeglass lens been super-glued on? Please try to take them off for a second.

Life is the point of the Bible. As Argo said, “Without human life, the Bible cannot be true.” The Bible is FOR human life. As Argo said, “It must AFFIRM the individual’s right to exist as an individual or it cannot be true.” Amen, Argo. Any interpretation of the Bible which is not a two thumbs up for human life gets a big thumbs down from me. Please replace your authority eyeglasses with these eyeglasses: a love of & a cherishing of LIFE.

The Bible is useless unless it’s read… and understood by living, breathing, thinking human individuals. Does this idea, AND the immeasurable value of human beings, leave a bad taste in your mouth? If so, why?

    AMom,

It is interesting that you are willing to make pronouncements about what I believe when you have no idea. The reality is I believe every true child of God is a priest before him and has the authority of the Scriptures available to him/her. What I don’t believe is that every believer is as clear headed as every other believer. I have known some godly people who could scarcely hold two thoughts in their heads at the same time. Such people are fine fellow pilgrims, but I don’t want them teaching me theology. Be careful that in your feverish attempt to thwart authoritarianism you don’t deny the diversity of gifts in Christ’s body.

We will not be judged unfair because we will not accept your own assessment of what your worldview is. You are just one more Gnostic hack that plagues Christianity like bad hemorrhoids. You sent me an email admitting that you believe that the “flesh” as expounded by the apostle Paul is a REALM and NOT the believer’s weakness. That’s Gnosticism plain and simple. You also said the Spirit is a realm rather than a literal indwelling within the believer. You are a Gnostic heretic and you make me want to vomit.

    DB,

Please don’t presume to know what I believe. If you would like to have a real discussion of my views, please feel free to ask what I actually believe. Otherwise, you are just burning a straw man.

Don’t refer to burning things, it reminds me of the way your Reformed relatives burned and drowned people who merely disagreed with them. And that’s what you would do if not for the American Constitution. If I am living in the 17th century, I am dead long ago.

    Abe,

I agree with you that some of what Calvin wrote was in error. I would love to discuss with you the things I believe he was right about.

Sorry, Abe gets it; doubt you can manipulate him with your Augustinian door of agreement leading to death.

    db,

“So then, according to the first Christian to use the term “illuminated,” everyone who is baptized is illuminated. I doubt this is what the Calvinist heretics teach.” We teach that every true believe is given spiritual understanding by the Spirit (see 1 Cor. 2:14-15). This we refer to as “illumination.” We do not teach that the unregenerate are cognitively deficient. I don’t believe everyone who is baptized has been enabled to welcome spiritual truth, but I believe this because I don’t think every “baptized” person is a genuine believer.

What the Gnostics taught is that material is inherently evil. Calvinists don’t believe that. I believe Paul used the word Sarx to describe the weakness and frailty of that realm that is merely human. That has nothing to do with whether the Spirit indwells a believer or not. Of course I believe the Spirit indwells believers.

You have again attributed to me a belief that is not mine. I doubt that even a modern Theonomist would hold such a view, but I would not presume to speak for them.

Calvin is your spiritual daddy–that is a fact–whether you deny it or not.
