      Andy,

“Present” and future. Not just future from the past perspective.

Might be better to ask . . . at conversion which sins are forgiven, only those committed prior to conversion or every sin that has and will be committed.

I’d say yes, but there is the work of redemption jesus did on the cross, and then the application of that redemption. No body is justified until they believe, even though Jesus paid for their sins on the cross. And you aren’t forgiven for future sins till you at least commit them.

Jay Adams agrees with this, BTW

“God doth continue to forgive the sins of those that are justified; and although they can never fall from the state of justification, yet they may by their sins fall under God’s Fatherly displeasure, and not have the light of his countenance restored unto them, until they humble themselves, confess their sins, beg pardon, and renew their faith and repentance.”

RENEW FAITH AND REPENTENCE? why that’s horrible new Calvinism. But did you exercise faith while you sinned? Did you repent during the sin? No, of course not.. So you need to do it afterward

1 John 1:5-7 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk (present) in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth (progressive present tense) us from all sin.”

What’s this walking in the light business all about? Calvinists stumble in darkness.

Did Our Savior actually suffer the penalty of each and every sin that we would commit or was He earning the right to be our perfect sacrifice for each and every sin we would commit? Always had trouble with this.

Christ did not die so we could go on sinning all the more.

If we ponder it, there are laws against murder, theft, etc. that apply to all. Society in general agrees certain sins are not to be tolerated, regardless of religious belief.

If we are born again & repent & turn away, we will be righteous. Will we ever sin again? Possibly. This is not about achieving perfection.

On the other hand, I don’t believe sin can flourish as a lifestyle in a believer for the duration of the person’s life. God corrects & disciplines his children until righteousness.
