If one believes New Calvinist teaching of the ongoing total depravity of the “saints,” one is also committed to the idea of a Hobbesian war of all against all just under the surface of the churchy veneer, waiting to explode. That may explain why they believe a heavy hand of authority is needed to keep everyone in line. It might also explain why they limit themselves to 1 hour of contact per week.
