I realize the PROTESTANT doctrine of ‘justification by faith’, (by THEIR definition, using their usual practice of redefining terms) is incorrect because of how they ‘spin’ it.
But the apostle Paul repeatedly says we are JUSTIFIED BY FAITH (see verses below). Properly exegeted, and taken in context, I agree. (I’m not sure the actual phrase “justified by the new birth” is found in the NT, but the concept certainly is).
These verses below clearly stress that our justification by faith is APART from the law, a point you repeatedly make in your writings…thank you for always stressing the APART from the law view and continually pushing back against the protestant denial of the new birth.
Romans 3:27-28 KJV – .
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 5:1 KJV –
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Galatians 3:24 KJV –
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Agreed. In John 3, Jesus states out of the gate, “You must be born again,” and then states several times that salvation is by faith. The former is implied throughout scripture. Justification by new birth is based on 1John 3:9; “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” We can’t sin because we are born again and no longer under law, and “where there is no law there is no sin.” Those reading that letter knew what John meant because of oral teachings on the relationship of the law to salvation. Yes, it can be said that Christians sin, but it is not the same sin that takes place under law. So-called Christian sin is a failure to love that can bring chastisement by God the Father. This is a family matter, not a condemnation matter. So, as Christians, we never have to question why we do good works (love) because we are not justified by the law, we are justified because we are born into God’s family, which results in loving acts flowing from a new nature.
The flesh can be tempted but the Spirit of Truth, Helper promised in John 14 is omnipresent to intercept and protect those Born of the Holy Spirit and Fire from ENTERTAINING the thought process that is an all important “staging area” where we, with the Helper within turn away in the way Christ turned away from every temptation as exampled during the 40 days in the desert.
