Purgatory solves this issue. If one is justified they are justified, so destined for heaven; but if one is justified but not actually just enough to enter heaven yet they go to purgatory to be purged. Thus is avoided the immoral notion of scoundrels in unpurified states going to heaven, and is avoided the notion that justification is earned by works. The problem is by creating a ludicrous system of works people left behind on earth can do to get their loved ones out early they ruined the logic of it.
Someone will say “its unscriptural.” But what is the parable or whatever it is about not getting out till paying the last farthing/penny then?
We are left refighting controversies that were already solved becauae protestantism threw the baby out with the bath water. In this case they threw out purgatory with the abuses of claiming there are means people have to break their relatives out early.
