“Hence, all salvation is predicated on the eradication of self”

And everyone cheers because that sounds so humble and God centered. Die to self. But it chills me to the bone because I think it through to it’s logical conclusion. Without a “self”, only a “collective” is left. Be it a religion of institutional church or huge institutionalized government. And both are authoritarian with “experts” who know best for us. Like the school marmish virtue signaler who thinks people are angry because they are lonely, Sen. Ben Sasse. A Gov program can’t be far behind! https://www.lawliberty.org/2018/12/17/another-sasse-treatise-on-what-ails-us/. The evil of individualism makes its appearance in the comments. The article is excellent.

So our world praises, Collective governed. But, Not self governed. Most people fall for it in order to look cooperative and “nice”.

I have been accused of being a Universalist in the past. On the contrary, I reply, I think there will be faaaar fewer people in heaven than we might suppose. And the near universal-in-the-church assumption —“salvation is predicated on the eradication of self”—is why.

Well I have a sister-in-law who was raised as a universalist. Her father is a universalist Methodist minister. Every Thanksgiving we were regaled with the universalist proof from scripture.

The fact is they are on the same side of the coin as the calvinist. It’s just that they believe everyone is “elected” and predestined for eternity with Christ. That means you can do whatever you want! All you have to worry about is punishment from the state. There will be no separation from God.
