It seems as if the offer of salvation is based on the presumption that YOU think you are worth saving. You’ve got to have a modicum of self-esteem to think that you have enough innate value that God would put this whole salvation plan together just for the man race.
Now I do know of a character who really hates mankind and would honestly describe them as worms. That would be Satan- he’s got kind of a grudge that we’re going to heaven and he ain’t. His buddy Calvin expresses Satan’s thoughts thusly”
“And what can man do, man who is but rottenness and a worm,” – and that’s just in Chapter 1.
Answer:
The REAL Gospel: a free gift that says God loved you before you loved Him.
RM, yes, and yes! In Philippians 2:4–16, Paul likens the children of God (those who are born-again) to stars that shine in the universe. I read it twice: Nowhere did I see we should rot like worms. What do rotting worms attract? They are a sign of decay, of death, of evil. And they are like the Calvinists I know, I say without hesitation.
To shine like a star, now that’s a bit of a contrast, eh? Worm or star?
You’re right in attributing those things to Satan and this one particular bedfellow Calvin.
