They pulled out the “Pink” to prove that he believed in total depravity. Wow, they’re so smart!

Interestingly, Arthur Pink started out in life as a Theosophist, actually being invited to the inner circle of Annie Bessant herself! This is where the New Age/ Coexist movement really began in the modern times, btw. He became a Christian or so he claims in 1908. But he was never really stable after that; He couldn’t settle down anywhere and ended up dying as a hermit in Scotland. He wouldn’t go to church and got really irked if anyone came to visit him. Fruits of the spirit? Oh, that must be all the books he wrote.

Yes, Calvinism does have a mystical side to it, going way, way back to the mystic monk Augustine himself. A.W. Pink was as lost and confused as one Piper. Thanks for the info, Republican Mother….it all adds up.

Eek, what a messed up and false idea, this total depravity nonsense. Anti, anti, anti-Biblical.

Some think Pink might have been manic. I can imagine he was drawn to the desolate fatalism of determinism. I kept asking Cals if they knew about Pink’s life. But they totally separate doctrine from praxis, so what was the point?

“They totally separate doctrine from praxis ….” Because if they don’t the cognitive dissonance is unbearable. Are we taking bets on how long Paul, John and Andy last as commenters on The Reformed Sage? You know, before they get booted as troublemakers and obstructionists? Or would that gambling thingy send me to hell? You know, along with the drinking thingy and the dancing thingy and the movie thingy and the women only wear long dresses thingy? Wouldn’t want to leave any thingy out. (Smile and Wink) And of course, we are all double damned because because of the doctrine thingy. Insert long, deep sigh. We all need a little humor.
