I was born-again at a certain date and time and since then have had zero doubt about my salvation.
But . . . how does a Calvinist know he/she is going to heaven? They cannot say, literally, that they have been saved or “born-again” and there’s an invisible, evil force that shuts their mouths so that they can never say “Jesus died for me.” I’ve never yet heard a Calvinist say to another human being, one crying out to God, “Jesus died for you; for your sins.” So does membership to their sect/cult and bowing down to their “church’s” laws save them?
In other words: How does one become part of the elect? And how does one KNOW one is now part of the elected, elitist, condescending club? What assurance do they have (from their point of view)?
I have yet to meet a happy, assured, untroubled, “free” Calvinist. They can barely walk with the law being so heavy on their lives. I pity therm deeply and can only pray that they’d see the errors in their man-made ways.

No assurance is a stated orthodoxy of the Protestant Reformation. Calvin’s 3 classes of elect are an example. Those in the church are of the “called” which are the temporary elect, but there is no way of knowing who has been granted the “gift of perseverance” until the final judgement. That’s stated Protestant orthodoxy. However, as stated by several Calvinists, the best assurance is Calvin’s “power of the keys.” This is the idea that God has granted authority to the elders and heaven will bind or loose whatever they bind or loose. Hence, if they say you are saved, heaven will bind that in heaven.

Paul, the facts in your reply to Victoria are surely the saddest thing I have heard; almost ever. Of what worth is the work of Jesus Christ on the cross then to Calvinists (or to anyone, in fact)? Of what worth is is Jesus’ once-off payment; His once-off sacrifice and the FREE gift of salvation that believing on Him brings and that Jesus Himself guarantees in the Bible? I am going to say it, and I’ll take the full brunt of my words: Calvinism is so obviously evil, and its author can only be Satan. There is no way that the God of Calvinism is the one of the Bible, no matter how one twists and rapes the Bible (Sproul, MacArthur, White, Mohler, Platt, and a host of women teachers too like Susan Heck and Martha Peace).
From now on, I’ll be praying for the Calvinists I know even more frequently; it’s no wonder they are such a controlled, insecure, and yet arrogant and ultra-prider bunch of people.
Thanks for the information, Paul, and thank you for preaching the simple yet 100% effective Biblical Gospel.

You are more welcome than you will ever know. Truth is my joy and my life. THE truth, not A truth manufactured by the traditions of men. There is only ONE mediator between God and man who has been given ALL authority in heaven and earth and who will never share His glory or authority with any other man.

No where does this perpetual forgiveness bother me more than in their youth group sin confession time. It is insidious. It reminds me of reading about the Chinese re education camp tactics during their cultural revolution. It is bone chilling. But these guys present this mind control tactic as from God, Himself. The undeveloped brains of youth, coupled with peer pressure to conform to the group makes it a potential to create more future atheists.
