“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” ~ Matthew 5:17

How did Jesus fulfill the law?

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” ~ Romans 8:3-4

If Jesus fulfilled the law, then how is the law fulfilled in us?

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” ~ Galatians 5:14

Jesus’ death ENDED the law. Therefore, through Christ, everyone who believes is born again, having died to the law and the law’s condemnation. With the law’s condemnation removed, believers are free, thus fulfilling the law by showing love to God and love to others!
