LOL… actually Paul you misunderstand. “Husbands” don’t hold the doctrines of the church because they are doctrinal aficionados. They are not trying to be precise in their “sound doctrine” … They could care less about such things.

What they care about is that “Biblical authority” gives them the ability to demand sex from their wives because without authority they can’t get laid.

or I think more accurately according to counseling testimonies received by us, the elders will keep your wife in line if you play nice at church and support the elders. Once you start with the premise that elders have authority, the next question is where that authority begins and ends. But of course, since their authority comes from the Bible, that covers anything and everything. Actually, it is a fact that there is a free-for -all going on in these churches in regard to elder authority being used to get what you want from your spouse in “marriage counseling.” It’s a win-win situation: either the spouse does what’s expected, or they are “declared an unbeliever.” Once it is a mixed marriage, the next question is, “does it please the unbelieving spouse to dwell with the believing spouse.” If the judgment is, “no” then the unbelieving spouse has partaken in “heart abandonment” which is synonymous with physically leaving because after all “man looks on the outward appearance, but God looketh upon the heart.” It’s a fact that spouses are going to certain churches to get rid of their husbands or wives. I saw it happen firsthand at Clearcreek.
