“Another Tullian Tweet: Is your life defined by a ladder or cross?
This is what TT thinks sets man free: excruciating death.” pondering
Yup. Christians really need to pay attention to the message. The best thing you can do is sacrifice yourself, since it’s meant to be from a sovereign God – that’s what I get from him, John Piper, and reformed theology. And orthodox Christianity. The peasants paying for the cathedrals & the pastors’/priests’ salaries, for example.
What does it mean for them, the religious leaders? Their own bad behavior was predestined by God. It’s not their fault. At least they have the theology right, they’re predestined to go to heaven, they just need to be nicer about it.
Jesus said the bottom line is to love God, yourself, others – live the abundant life. That’s absent from their tweets, sermons, conferences, videos, & books. What Jesus told us to do, His message, is replaced by a message that you must love suffering.
Can’t think of anything that would be more opposite of Jesus’ message. The devil must be thrilled that suffering is the popular Christian message.
