Andy makes great point about word “church”. I see the biggest problem with it is people tend to “tick the box” –they went to church. It changes nothing.
Paul, a great resource on the divorce issue is David Instone Brewer. Has some vids you can google that goes into the whole OT word meanings that will make NT understood better.
A big problem with me and “church” is the money does NOT go to the “need”. The money goes to maintain and grow the institution.
The reformed seminaries are not interested in what the first century church taught about the Lord’s Supper. Think, pew-sitters! That’s a red flag. Paul, before I would have enjoyed this book as a a part of church history. Now? Who cares what the reformed have taught and preached if it doesn’t line up with Scripture. These are men who claim authority over my life, and that fact must be dealt with.
God bless you, Paul. I can relate . You are not alone. Yes, we are to “remember” Him —as in we are here to live out His kingdom HERE and NOW.
The institutions tend to have it all backwards.
