If Piper and the others really thought they were bad, they would grieve over it, not take it so lightly. This is why I know that they don’t really believe it. Piper’s hero, Jonathan Edwards, would be appalled at their attitude.
It has become very cool to be the worst sinner. They compete to be the worst. It is meant to sound humble and self deprecating. It is a narcissistic tactic to win followers and people fall for it. It only gives me reason to stay far from them and never trust them as they have a ready made excuse backed up by their horrible doctrine. I prefer those who are ‘new creatures in Christ” and who would be appalled at remaining a horrible sinner after being Born Again. Not that they are perfect but are walking in the light.
They are far from being humble and self- deprecating for if they were there would be no conferences, books, or marketing self-promotion. These men cannot give up the spotlight for nothing. Just looking at these men sitting around in their chairs and discussing their “gospel til’ the moon don’t shine” is enough for me to get pretty nauseous. How in the world can people listen to this day in and day out- the Gospel, the Gospel that, the Gospel this? I did……and boy was it depressing. Now I look at what they say and I realize how foolish! Instead of living for Christ and moving towards victory, it is continual look to the past at who were before you were born again and keep it on pause button.
