Dever_bwDear Sir,

It has come to my attention that you have begun using a logo that our organization paid to have designed and paid to have legally trademarked.  We would ask you to please immediately stop using the cross/logo that you are presently using in “The Coalition Against New Calvinism” logo and to remove all uses from your digital and printed material.
Sincerely,

Dear Matt,

I have contemplated [no pun intended] your email and have sorted through many thoughts in regard to it. I have also consulted the coalition. A decision has been made.

Geeez. Paul, I think you really over-reacted to this request, which is legitimate. A trademark is legal protection and this organization has the right to ask you to not use it. (btw- it’s a pretty ugly logo and looks unprofessional in my humble opinion. No loss, there.) Not every interaction has to be met with guns a blazing-I fear you need a break from the long righteous fight ’cause my friend, you are getting trigger happy. Chill!

      EKM,

It’s all tongue-in-cheek in regard to their ridiculous theology. You seem to want to deprive me of a little fun. But in retrospect, what idol in my heart did cause me to use their logo? And is it fair to ask me to immediately repent and thereby “jump from the imperative to the indicative.” It’s illustrative of how their own stupid theology does’t work in real life. And I wasn’t going to pass on the opportunity. But I think Andy, Randy FT, and Lydia nail it in regard to the whole idea of trademarking a cross. Really?

    A “trademark” cross? Seriously?

Yes Paul- just like they can trademark words and anything else they would like to get
their hands on- including a human being. Can they now trademark their own members? I wonder…..
