Paul's Passing Thoughts

John Owen: We shouldn’t Behead Heretics Unless….

Posted in Uncategorized by Paul M. Dohse Sr. on October 4, 2012

….the physicians disagree. But if they do, I will say no more. But I disagree. Such a man of conviction!

Excerpts from:

” I know the usual pretences for persecution. ‘ Such a thing is blasphemy : ‘ but  search the Scriptures, look at the definitions of divines, and you wrill iind heresy, in what head of religion soever it be, and blasphemy very different. ‘To spread such errors will be destructive to souls :’ so are many things which yet are not ptmishable with death. Let him that thinks so go kill Pagans and Mahometans. ‘Such a heresy is a canker : ‘ but it is a spiritual one, let it be prevented by spiritual means ; cutting off men’s heads is no proper remedy for it. If state physicians think other- wise, I say no more, but that I am not of the college.” — Owen.

” Persecution is the deadly sin of the Reformed Churches, that which cools every honest man’s zeal for their cause, in proportion as his reading becomes more ex-tensive. ” — H ALLAM.

It is not just the sin of the Reformed church it is the REASON not to listen to one single thing their leaders have taught throughout history because they MISSED THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON/REASON/RESULT OF JESUS CHRIST. And it means they did NOT know HIM at all.

Amazing what folks will overlook in order to push their power position. We don’t NEED the Puritans. We were sent the Holy Spirit if we ar really saved.

The YRR?NC have promoted the Puritans for intensely for so long that now a few are starting to wake up who are reading about the :Puritians and there is finally some push back.. Reading their history shows their words and ACTIONS did not match.. They were tyrants/despots/murderers who wrote down some great sounding prayers while they persectued people in several ways including death. Sheesh! Just read Mather’s excuse for wiping out Indian tribes. Murdering people never sounded to righteous!

My goodness, I do not know what has happened. There should be NO smiley face for “Puritans” and the mistakes in that comment are grievous. I beg pardon with the excuse of a new laptop keyboard I am not used to.
