We can rest assured that our Father doesn’t want us to be confused. He gave us a brain and is honored when we use it, but know this: He doesn’t want us to use it to vet every theory running amuck in the world regarding the meaning of life. His word to us is clear: we have His Spirit; we are not to be deceived; test every spirit; and we have all that is needed to be fully equipped for every good work. But according to New Calvinist David Powlison, the church forgets stuff. Therefore, it needs a research and development purpose to rediscover lost truth and apply it. Buyers beware; you only need to follow the money.

As stated in The Truth About new Calvinism, it all boils down to the enemy’s agenda: 1) keep people out of the kingdom 2) deceive kingdom citizens into living spiritually anemic…

    Paul,

Thanks to you for another excellent post. You really do state your position quite clearly; and, as a former looooong time member of SGM, sitting under the tutelage of the king of Calvinist contradictions himself, CJ Mahaney, I can tell you that your description of the practical out-working of the objective external gospel is dead on accurate. It is the exact reason CJ and his Board can act with rank hypocrisy without batting an eye, and pronounce utterly contradictory ideas at the pulpit with nary a blush of embarrassment.

I believe that both you and John Immel are quite possibly the two most important men working to free minds for Christ in the country today. Thanks for all of your time and energy, and your suffering the baseless criticisms of so many who are still in darkness.

Yes Paul I will second that. Freedom has become such a precious word for me lately. We are free indeed in Christ!

    Paul,

Please feel no need to rush (also, please excuse the typos and grammatical errors…it’s, as you will see, obviously a work in progress). Whenever you can is just fine, really. I provided a brief summary of my theory as well in my most recent post over at Spiritual Tyranny; which might be helpful. Any thoughts by anyone are greatly appreciated…although I certainly covet your thoughts in particular as I consider you, as well as John, to be experts on such matters.

Anyway…I just wanted to encourage. I know people like you must put up with a lot of stuff (even from me sometimes 😦 )…I’m thankful that you persevere where many would throw up their hands, grab a tub of ice cream and flip on Jersey Shore.

    So…thanks!
