Single-Issue Voters and Intellectual Vacancy
Historically, “Evangelicals” have shown that they typically outsource their brains to some “authority” to do the thinking for them, so it comes as no surprise to me that many are making this election about a single issue: abortion
President Trump’s apparent change of stance on abortion has sent many conservatives into a tailspin. As it is, a great number of church-goers already reluctantly supported him in the past despite their misgivings on his moral compass or perhaps lack-thereof. And I will be one of the first to admit that I did not vote for him in 2016 (I voted for a 3rd party candidate) because I made the mistake of buying into the whole “vote your conscience” logical fallacy; a mistake that I am very thankful turned out for the better with Trump’s victory and the revival of America’s greatness that ensued.
We could debate ad-nauseam Trump’s current abortion views and/or whether or not they have changed or whether he really believed this way all along and if that’s grounds enough to not vote for him this time around. Look, let me say this; I hate abortion UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. (And for what it’s worth, surgery for an ectopic pregnancy is not abortion and as far as I can remember has never been considered an abortion.) I value life because it’s LIFE! And the circumstances that led to the creation of life or the conditions in which that life will grow are not determining factors for a life’s value. When you begin with that premise, the conclusions that follow are self-evident.
And because this is a value judgement, we are not going to legislate a change of heart into the minds of those who would believe otherwise. Much like the issue of slavery in the 19th century, like it or not, we are going to have to concede certain battles until a change of heart takes place in the American populace in order to win the larger, more important war.
My fellow conservatives, the message is this:
If Kamala Harris wins, the abortion issue will be the least of your concerns.
This is not the hill we want to die on.
I’m not saying abortion is not an important issue. But if a person is not going to vote for Trump because of some perceived stance on abortion, rest assured Komrade Kamala WILL win without a doubt, and you are going to have so many more problems that abortion is not even going to matter. This country as we know it WILL be over. Liberty and Freedom as we know it WILL be over. And as people find themselves systematically rounded up and placed into gulags, internment camps, “reeducation camps”, or even lined up against a wall and shot in the back of the head, those people can take great comfort in knowing that they voted their conscience.
That is not hyperbole or me being overly melodramatic. That is a reality.
And what can be more immoral or anti-biblical than tyranny, oppression, and violation of the right to existence of EVERY individual, not just the unborn?
