Paul's Passing Thoughts

Ken Ham-fisted Error

Posted in Uncategorized by Andy Young, PPT contributing editor on September 18, 2024

Who is “we”? If you mean the unsaved, then why would you use “we”, because then you would be including yourself among the unsaved? If you indeed mean everyone, saved and unsaved alike, then you would be in error, because the Bible never refers to saved people as sinners.

Thank you Andy and Paul for posting this. It can’t be overstated that the denial of the new birth is what these TULIP people are actually bolstering. Ken Ham has always been much of a hero to me in his defense of a young earth and literal interpretation of the creation account, but the far reach of Reformed Calvinists is staggering. They have been using this language for so long that it’s pretty much the norm to hear that we are STILL SINNERS. I remember years ago how Paul posted an allegorical story about a Pastor who during his sermon opined how he is still a sinner, and sins daily, and is just as bad as the worst sinner. John Q Parishioner confronts him after the service and encourages him to resign and get saved. Alien Righteousness Doctrine from New Birth deniers is very harmful to so many people that it is no stretch to discern its origins – just look at its fruit! Calvin and Luther both have served to undermine the simplicity of the Gospel. And obviously I don’t use the word “Gospel” in the same twisted context as do the Reformed, as they have distorted and perverted that as well. When they say “The Gospel” they are not thinking of what is the “Good News”, they are speaking of a very complex doctrine (which only an Elder can try to explain). Well, keep up the great work guys!

There is an SDA connection with YEC in its current Answers in Genesis form.

Ellen G White supposedly had a revelation of the earth being created in literal days, and this was then popularised by one George McCready Price who invented flood geology, so called.

This in turn fed into Morris and Whitcombe’s Genesis Flood which kick started the widespread adoption of a woodenly literal interpretation of Gen 1. It appears none of these 3 men are actually qualified in a relevant scientific discipline.

It amuses me that the John MacArthurs of this world who insist theirs is the only sound interpretation don’t seem to realise in whose steps they are following. But then Calvinists are used to forming their doctrine from very um human sources …

Thank you for this background Ken. SDA is also totally responsible for bringing Protestantism back to its original doctrinal roots.
