He went to the “keys” in Matt 16 and the mention of “church” aka ekklesia aka assembly aka called out ones in Chapter 18. Well, I’m sold! It’s “assumed”! lol

If one accepts the premise that the Catholic church was the authority, then what business did the Reformers have in accusing them of straying from the gospel? Seems to me the Reformers would have been way out of line in this regard. Seems like the Reformers believed they had a claim on having an ability to interpret scripture on their own. Yet it is the Reformers who tell us that they have it right and we have to submit to their authority. This is the whole problem with authority = truth!

The Reformers were careful to do what they did under the Church authority of Augustine. This is why Luther and Calvin never left the Catholic Church and proclaimed its authority till the end. Calvin affirms this in his 4th book of the Institutes, and Luther affirms such in the last thesis of his 97 Theses not to be confused with the 95 Theses of which several Catholic doctrines were affirmed by him. This is why till this day, both churches claim Augustine as their Doctor of Grace. The authority of Protestantism is grounded in Augustine.

Exactly right Andy. Any protestant thug demanding obedience to his authority while rejecting the catholic church is a fraud.

it is hilarious to watch black Calvinist make a whole string of extra biblical assertions while laying claim to “biblical” purity.
