“And amazingly, the ‘Calvinists don’t necessarily believe what Calvin believed’ truism continues to be espoused, and never becomes less dumbfounding when heard.”

That, along with the other old standby, “Well you don’t really understand what Calvinism is/what Calvin taught.”

Really? You say that like you are the first person in the world to ever come to that conclusion! What a profound observation you just made! Gee, I never would have thought of that. You mean I should actually learn what someone else teaches before criticizing it? Wow, what would I have ever done without you pointing that out to me? You are just so smart!

Please! They really need to find a better argument.

OK, she is in same trap all protestants seem to be in. Sinless perfection. Her very existence is sin because of imputed guilt. How wonderful that Jesus came along to bear the Cross so she could continue sinning.

The scripture she insists on also says to be “perfect” like our heavenly father. Meaning we mature in Christ. Instead of making excuses for sinning why not sin less? Because she believes that fact that we exist is sin. If we were in a coma we would be sinning.

Sin against justification is deemed the same as sin against the family because the law is one dimensional which denies the new birth and redefines it according to Gnosticism.

‘Calvinists don’t necessarily believe what Calvin believed’

This kills me every time I hear it. too hilarious.

What they are really saying is they are free to pick and choose whatever they want to believe for whatever arbitrary reason they want to believe it all the while making a claim to the authority of “orthodoxy”. It is such a delicious intellectual shell game.
