Paul's Passing Thoughts 
There is no question but that we are called on to obey in the process of sanctification. The proper balance is found in Phil. 2:12-13 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Every time a believer overcomes temptation to sin, he should acknowledge he has done so by divine enablement alone. Jesus said to his disciples, “without me [severed from me] you can do nothing.
“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it” (1 Thess. 5: 23-24).

Randy, you can’t define those as either justification or sanctification because the two are “inseparable.” Your answer is deliberate deception.

Of course you can differentiate between justification and sanctification. Justification concerns a right legal,standing before,the law. Sanctification concerns a holy life before the world. One concerns the believer’s perfect and unchangeable righteous standing before God. The other concerns the believer’s state which is never sinless in this life. One concerns an imputed righteousness that is alien to the believer. The other concerns an infused ability to obey God’s commands and produces a righteousness that is the believer’s own.
These acts of God’s grace are inseparable in that they are both accomplished by the redemptive work of Christ [by this I am in no way implying the Father and the Spirit are not involved. The Father chose us that we should be holy and without blemish and the sanctifying Spirit is involved in the application stage of sanctification] and are both applied to the same people. A person who does not desire to obey God and who finds he has no ability to say no to temptation, has no reason to believe he has been justified.
I have no desire to deceive anyone, deliberately or otherwise.

Paul all of you guys have said some great things in comments these last few days so I am not going to expand on what GWR has stated except this comment.
GWR, who is the decider of who obeys or not and what is the degree of temptation one must be involved in to be out of sync with God? For if this is true then I would say that the majority of Christian leaders today like Piper, Driscoll, MacArthur, Mohler, Chaney, Dever, Challies, and so on are in danger for their pride of heart, lack of servant humility, lies, failure to expose the evil of sexual child abuse and spiritual abuse. Quite hefty sins and a constant temptation to do the same things over and over again without ANY ACCOUNTABILITY. But yet you find the time to rail against Paul on HIS BLOG about his beliefs- simply amazing!

God is obviously the one who decides who is obedient and who is not. Neither you nor I know the motives of those you mentioned. God will judge all of us at the last day. If you are asking what level of obedience we must attain in sanctification, I think the answer is in what moves us. If we find we have no desire to please our Father by obedience, and never make any effort to obey, it is unlikely we have ever been born of God.
I have told Paul numerous times that he will never hear from me
again if only he will begin to represent our views accurately. If he wants to disagree with our view of double imputation, he has every right to do so. All I ask is that he represent it accurately. No one believes Christ’s preceptive [active] obedience is imputed to our sanctification so that we have no responsibility to obey. Calvinists don’t believe in progressive justification. That is a RC doctrine. No Calvinist denies the Trinity. No Calvinist denies that God does a work within believers. I could go on and on. Virtually everything Paul writes about Calvinists is a perversion of our views. My only concern is to correct those perversions. If Paul should begin to state our views accurately, you will never hear from me again.

“You will never hear from me again” IF I present things the way you want them presented? This is classic Calvinism: you can’t compel me by force, so you are going to stalk me until I cave. This is why some requested that you be allowed to comment here; ie, to expose things like this from the horses mouth. Also the arrogance: you actually think that I have no control over your stalking. Really? You have told me numerous times that you will stop punishing me if I obey you? So, you don’t think I can make things rocky for you if you come after me? Wow. You may want to rethink that.
