The audience – vs 17 – “Brethren” – Same plane as religious leaders – The sin of unbelief Fulfillment of prophecy – vs 18 – God’s Foreknowledge A wonderful opportunity with a glorious purpose – vs 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted” Two commands
“[You] Change your mind and [you] convert…”
What must I do to be saved? A “from something : to something” relationship The “Times of Refreshing” – a tie between rest and refreshed – The Promised Land vs. the Kingdom of God Israel’s Relationship to Christ – vs 20-26 – Main Thought – vs 20, 26
“19Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you… 26Unto you first, God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”
Salvation was to the Jews first – Parenthetical thought – vs 21-25 Jesus is the prophet of Deut 18:15-19 All the prophets spoke of Jesus Israel, heirs to the promises and covenants Gentiles benefit from the promises to Israel
