Thanks Andy, I agree and am totally committed to spreading the word about the Holy Priesthood of believer.
Also, this was so great. Thanks so much for getting into the historical context to set the stage. One thing I had never thought of was the connection with the resurrection and who the letter was addressed to.

that was a very good study- thank you. I actually stayed home from our church we go to, to get my house ready to sell this week, so I thought to myself “well, this is a good time to listen to your study.” It was a good choice!
The discussion and study of the Holy Spirit is truly an important one. There is so much confusion, I think, about the role and relationship of the Holy Spirit. It was never a hard one for me to understand because I have been alone with God (meaning I did not have a lot of good teaching from the outside so I was alone in my study of Gods word) for many years, even through severe depression. So I got use to hearing Gods voice.
But I find that many do not know that the Holy Spirit is an active agent both for salvation and for using that individual for His purposes. Chapter one discussed between you, Susan and Paul made a lot of sense and confirmation (which we continually need that confirmation) about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and His role before Pentecost and after. Looking forward to more of your studies.
By the way your daughter looks you and she sure is a cutie! 🙂

Thank you, Lydia and T4H, for you kind remarks. I am grateful that this was a blessing for you, and it has been for me as well. It certainly is a challenge to make sure we get things right, and being the one leading this study I doubly feel the burden in being accountable to God for handling His holy Word properly. That being said, this Tuesday we’re going to follow up some more on this issue about the “baptism of the Holy Spirit”. I contend that baptism is actually one of those jewish customs/tradtions that I mentioned Luke was purposefully vauge about since he assumed his audience would already understand the significance- and Theophilus being a sadducee would definitely understand the cermonial/purification aspect of ablution. I’ve only scratched the surface, but the implications are mind-blowing!
I hope you will be able to join us again, and please I would urge you to invite someone to your house to join in the study along with us!

I did an OT study on Baptism once that blew my mind. It was one of those things, I wanted to know where it came from and how the Jews viewed it. I will be interested in how you present it and don’t forget the gals….did they “purify” in the OT? I did a similar study on circumcision because I could not understand it from a woman’s perspective and what it meant for women in the OC.
