This is interesting. I have started doing something similar. When I listen to them now I keep track of how they use verses. Did they use it as a justification verse or sanctification verse? Another thing to watch for is who is their audience and how are they relating to them. An example would be, are they speaking to them as believers or unbelievers. Usually they are speaking to a group of professing believers as if they are not believers.

This is the one that really gets folks confused. It is usually how I point out the problems with Piper because more folks can catch on to this than anything else. They sense something is missing or not right and when it is pointed out, they have an aha moment.

Why would Piper be speaking to a room of young pastors as if they are not saved? And why would he be giving advice to women about abusers/husbands asking for 3 way sex as the most important thing being his “leadership”. Does Piper think such a husband is showing the fruit of salvation?

Piper is not the only one but a good example. Once folks start seeing this then it makes it easier to discuss WHY they do this.

      Lydia,
Yep, that’s it as well. Would make a great chart to include both.

Whats the “let the wild dog of grace loose”? I would not particularly represent grace as a “wild dog”- sounds vicious to me.

“Self-confidence MUST be eradicated”??? Boy they’ve got this one covered and do it quite well.

No, I am sorry Tullian ‘ole boy’ the Lord does quite the opposite- He fills us with confidence and power of the Holy Spirit when we co-labor with Him. Working for the Lord is a “it takes two to tango”. When we actively work with Him then we realize our own selfishness, but that does not mean confidence wanes; in fact, it is the opposite.

    Hebrews 13:6
So we say with CONFIDENCE, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
