Paul's Passing Thoughts

Tchividjian/Coral Ridge Hosting Brazen Antinomian Super Bowl

Posted in Uncategorized by Paul M. Dohse Sr. on February 6, 2012

On February 23-25, 2012, Coral Ridge will host the inaugural Liberate Conference. A reader sent me the following promo link. I went ahead and posted the video portion below. No commentary needed on this. This bunch is openly antinomian and Tchividjian states the following in the promo: 1. Spiritual growth comes one way—going deeper and deeper into the same gospel that saved us 2. Their movement is rediscovering the lost gospel 3. They’re just getting warmed up.

And the Presbytery is simply not going to stand up to him and do anything about it. Christians, especially layman, have a choice: start a counter movement, or stand by and watch this happen.

Tullian (not to be confused with Tertullian, the historic church father who majored in Holiness and Sanctification, and would absolutely oppose their pretended “gospel revolution”) in this video plays the part of just another ad-pitch used car salesman to sell their false gospel of “liberation”. “Ecstatic” man. The buzz words they use should take you back to the 1960s when a previous Youth and Jesus Revolution took place, one that “liberated” Christianity from its “stuffiness” into “free love” (which New Calvinists do not endorse openly but love to talk about unashamedly), introduced irreverence, blue jeans and rock music into church, and new “gospel” tracts (complete with a new gospel of “God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life”), and even new Bibles (e.g. like Good New for MODERN Man). This sales pitch is reminiscent and very old of a false revival that has produced nothing good years ago. It is the pitch of a new False Gospel, but one now dressed (for disguise) under some garments of Calvinism, but one which is closer to something from the irreverent Calvin Klein (which Tullian appears to model for) than from that God-fearing theologian John Calvin. They are not the Puritans they quote, that is for sure.

Whenever the aspects of commercial marketing appear to make appeals like this for a new “radical” Christianity, while channeling or mimicking the cool-speak of the world (text: “yeah, we’re T4G man”), and aimed primarily at youth (or the Young, Restless, and Unreformed) you can be sure it is not the Holy Spirit that has inspired them, but the Devil, sending forth his pretended “messengers as angels of light”, who “liberate” themselves from any fear of God by pitching like Madison Avenue and try to repackage Christianity while altering its doctrines as “New and Improved” for this generation. Are thousands really falling for this superficial pitch? Is everyone that naive, really? It insults adult intelligence and encourages what even John MacArthur calls “perpetual adolescence” among New Calvinists.

It is appropriate that Corral Ridge (yeah, near Ft. Lauderdale too, that place noted for its heathenish Spring Break, another convenient draw), the same people that sponsored the youth-targeted ‘Evangelism Explosion’ Conferences, is now sponsoring this for the offspring of the Hippies who fell for the “radical Christianity” sales pitch a generation ago. “Cool”? We’ve seen this all before.

Jude warned about this, about “certain men” who have “crept in unawares” (marked for their subtlety and acceptance) “turning the Grace of God into lasciviousness”. Well named, LIBERATE: Liberal Gospel or Turning the Grace of God into–“unpredictable, unbounded, unrestrained, unbalanced, undomesticated” (as Tullian’s video pitch says)–unrighteousness (lasciviousness), while claiming to “take you deeper in the gospel” (contemplation which removes the need for real sanctification).

It’s not just sickening, it’s dangerous, and real pastors ought to preach against it!

My first thought was – how long was this guy in the basement drinking coffee before this was taped? Seriously though, doesn’t every generation have something “radical” like this that claims to be the first to discover the truth about God? All the while, as they have done for centuries, the faithful quietly discover the depths of God’s grace and love as they use the true means of grace (the Word of God, prayer and the Lord’s Supper), confess and repent of their particular sins, seek and offer forgiveness, raise their families in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, lead Godly lives in their communities, witness to their neighbors in truth, word and deed, deny themselves and give generously to the spread of the true Gospel at home and in other nations – knowing all along that they are only sojourners here. Where are the true pastors? They are preaching the truth of God’s Word in those same churches, defending the faith in their communities, ministering to people they know first hand, and seeking no glory but that of their Lord. May God be praised.

Noting the times yall wrote this stuff is indicative of having nothing better to do. I guess the idiots come out at night. Go help someone and spread Christianyity and stop bashing pastors when you don’t have intestinal fortitude to go to the pulpit yourself. Quit being armchair pastors and do the world a favor. SHUT UP!
