That Piper is sure a captivating speaker but apparently very forgetful. I guess he just forgot, again, what Matthew said about Jesus beginning his preaching ministry. Here it is:

Matt 4:17 “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Notice, Jesus’ words sound alot like the preaching of John the Baptist. What a coincidence! Piper forgot John the Baptist too.

I wonder if Piper thinks Nicodemus was the only one who had to be born again to enter the kingdom God? That squirrelly guy, he’s got slick answers for everything. It’s so sad.

Luke 17:3 records Jesus saying this:

“So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.”

Notice the words “if they repent, forgive them.” So, in another way, if we don’t repent towards God is He going to forgive us? How can repentance not be part of the gospel of forgiveness? How can the gospel be good news without repentance?

Didn’t Jesus teach His disciples the gospel of repentance and forgiveness?

Mark 6:12 “So they went out and preached that people should repent.”
