Announcing Open Forum on Twitter for New Book
I WAS dragging myself into this Furry Fandom project as sort of a public service to parents and child welfare professionals. Many readers of this ministry and its participants have been perplexed that I would wander into this venue, myself included. Have you ever been unsure about why you are doing something but also know you are going to do it anyway?
So, I have been very deep into the research the first half of my days and wrapping up the Potter’s House building project the second half of my days. And as a long lost friend from my Dallas, TX days used to say, “Boy Howdy!” am I glad I have gotten into this. As you know, world philosophy is our forte, and nothing has taught me more about world philosophy since my relationship to John Immel than where this research is taking me.
Also, if this ministry thinks it has learned something valuable, we like to get it out. That’s why I usually publish the progress of any book projects we do. It also serves as an open editors committee that refines the book. Comments reveal how people are perceiving the book and the question of perception is very valuable to the communication of ideas.

Have you had any conversations with Christian members of the furry community? Every convention I go to we have a fellowship meeting on the Sunday morning of the event.
We also have a chat group for prayer requests and discuss how the fandom positively impacts us.
I’m a Christian first, but it’s just a bunch dressing up as an animal, playing games, having a few drinks, and hanging out with my friends. There’s nothing nefarious about that in the leaat. In structure, it doesn’t seem very different than the theme parties I would go to at different fraternities back in school.
I’d love to know how you came to be involved in the furry community and its impact in your life.

My reply to you is an excerpt from the draft of chapter 2: “Full stop. Here, we have the very beginning of the Fandom. Though furries vigorously decry the ‘sex-cult’ accusation, sometimes in videos screaming and crying in a rage against the accusation, the fact remains that its very beginning is predicated by sex outside cultural norms. The very first promotional flyers were sexually suggestive, plushophllia was deemed cute and amusing, and the few fursuits donned at the first conference included leather fetish gear. Hence, all the rage against the sex-cult accusation is absurd and completely illogical.
As stated earlier, ‘sex-cult’ is a handy adjective that describes behavior flowing from the Furry counterculture, which rejects anything that is a norm within a given culture or at least considers all norms to be an open question. Pretense standards are fake standards posed by the counterculture in order to save face with the culture at large. In other words, getting directly to the point, the Furry community’s stand against things like pedophilia is disingenuous.”

It’s a shame that would wouldn’t want a comprehensive view.
What do you say to the thousands of people who are both living their values but enjoy cartoon animals?

I would say find another way to enjoy cartoon animals. The Fandom is not a fandom, it is a counterculture. The Bible says to avoid all appearances of evil and identifying with the Fandom is not doing that.

What was your original negative experience that led you to this view of a significantly sized community?

I don’t appreciate your presupposition that I am some weak person that cannot make objective judgments due to some experience I may have had. Like most who do church, you really know how to win people over. Not. And notice the arrogance; you totally assume this is the case and don’t even approach the question tentatively. I address all of your often heard drivel in chapter 2. Bottom line: the Fandom is a counterculture loaded to the hilt with all kinds of baggage and has no business being associated with the name of Christ in any way, shape, or form. And, adults who enjoy animal cartoons and are Fandom fursuiters usually suffer from Peter Pan Syndrome. Nevertheless, I will not assume that you are in your 20s or 30s and still living with mommy and daddy.

Too bad I was banned from Twitter. I never even tweeted anything of myself just retweeted articles. Mainly Sharyl Attkinsson of Full Measure. She was one of the reporters that Obama spied on over at CBS.
Anyway, after reading your articles on furry fandom, I am amazed how much I’m picking up on it in various venues with some of the terminology in comments.
